The farm relies on RVT field parts support

28th June 2022

Severn Trent Farms are 470 hectares of arable farm land and store biosolid cake on the farm in Staffordshire. Biosoild cake is a nutrient-rich sustainable fertiliser for farmers. The farm combines maize and 120 hectares forage maize for a digester.

Gary Powell was born on the farm, has worked there for his whole career, taking over from his parents giving him a strong connection to the estate. Maintaining the machinery on the farm is key to business, the fleet includes two John Deere 8370 tractors, a John Deere 6215, a JCB loadall, a John Deere S785i combine, Kuhn drill, Kuhn rotavator, two kuhn ploughs and a He-va subsoiler.

‘We like to bulk purchase and forward order with RVT Field Parts for bulk discounts, they are easy to deal with, offer competitive prices and the RVT Shrewsbury depot offers extremely good support throughout the year. The business relies on the field parts support especially through the busy harvest period if parts are needed in an emergency. Ordering is made easy because the team has a good knowledge and experience of the parts for the machinery in our fleet.’

‘I would particularly like to mention the superb service Dan Woollacott, RVT Combine Specialist Technician offers. One season the combine brokedown during harvest and Dan came out to inspect the machine at 10pm in the evening and was back first thing the next morning fitting the new part to keep us going. Dan is very conscientious with his work and does a thorough job of servicing support to the combine and the other machines we have on the farm, ‘ says Gary.

Time is valuable on the farm and there is less time to visit the depots so Gary relies on the RVT Field team, he has done many years of business with RVT and looks forward to continuing that business into the future.
